Role
and Scope As a member of IT - User Services, I was asked to assist three faculty members with the implementation of a grant concept for their three classes. I was the project manager and performed very extensive work in the key areas outlined in the table above. Background Three professors in the Consumer Studies department won a sizable grant to integrate the curriculum of their courses. In utilizing several software packages and an e-commerce environment, the team needed an online instructional guide for students, as well as proper system configuration and testing. Goal/Challenge The development phase of the project had been running for two years before my arrival and required clear direction and structure. The clients were not communicating effectively and had a nominal understanding of the software and other technical resources required. The team was very frustrated and was almost ready to abandon the project. Outcome In the fall of 2005, the project was completed with much success and great satisfaction by the clients and their students. Students and faculty reported that the system was effective and facilitated learning. Work toward the original vision for course integration had made good progress. |
